KCPTO is getting a Barton!

And we are looking for a new performing home!

Thanks to 55 of our members, we have raised over $6,400 to bring a Barton 3/14 to the Kansas City! A generous donor in Colorado has given a fully functioning Barton 3/14 to the KCTPO for a performing instrument as part of the Kansas City project.

Please join those who are supporting this project! Call John Trewolla at (913) 381-0256 or send an email to kctpo@sbcglobal.net to learn more.

It is HERE!

The Organ has Made the Trip Safely.

The Kansas City Theatre Pipe Organ club now is the owner of a fabulous Barton and it has been delivered safely in KC in a 53 foot trailer due the tireless effort of our volunteer crew of Dan, Marc, John and Gloria.

Approximately 120 hours of labor and two 600-mile travel days were required to re-pack the trailer containing the organ and make it suitable for an over-the-road trek from Blackhawk, CO to Kansas City. KCTPO contacted the service of Swift Transportation to hook up the trailer and bring it in - eliminating the hassle of permits and rented trucks.

Our crew totally opened all the pipe cases and carefully prepared each pipe for transit, strapped and bolted down each chest and regulator to make the journey... The beautiful white and gold console was cleated into place on the floor and cinched to the wall along with the blower to keep them from shifting on the 600 mile trip.

Now that the trailer is on lot storage, preparation for a new Kansas City home can begin shortly.

Here's the Story Details...

Remember the Granada Theater, which once was home for Kansas City’s only other theater organ? The Granada Barton was modest compared to our Music Hall Morton, but it was sad to see it dismantled when the theater was abandoned several years ago. Negotiations with the Grandad management have proven unsuccessful at this point and KCPTO is looking to partner with a church, theatre or other suitable home for the Barton.

But…

We need to continue raising funds to install the Barton into a new home. The organ will belong to the KCTPO. In return for installing it and maintaining it, we will be able to use it with minimal hall charge. So, we will be able to schedule many more events, recitals and performances without the substantial costs and scheduling issues of the Music Hall that now restrict us so much.

Even with the donated organ being in such fine shape  - any move of such magnitude means new parts, wiring, winding and other materials that cost money.

We need your help to facilitate installation, please.

Thank you for your generous tax-deductible support!
